For many years I worked in Human Resources and Learning & Development, in public and private sector organisations, large and small, start-ups and well established firms. I also ran my own business as a Career Coach.
Some years back, I realised I wasn’t getting enough satisfaction from my work and doing a U-turn; found my way to the Disability sector.
I have worked as a Disability Support Worker (and hold a Cert IV in Disability) and for the past year I have been part of the roll-out of the NDIS in Outer East Melbourne; as a Local Area Coordinator. I most enjoy working closely with participants, families, and carers; to identify their NDIS plan needs and to make the best use of their plans.
The role of Support Coordination is critical to the success of individual plans, and to the success of the scheme itself. I love it when I can help participants make real progress through their NDIS plan, and I like to think I know how to make things happen for people.
Away from work you’ll find me with my head in a book or listening to music, when I’m not messing about with our horses, riding my old motorbike; or surfing. There is never enough time!
